Steve Mikosic started Multiquip 25 years ago to cart chicken feed to farms throughout the Sydney area. He was delivering 16 tonnes of product each day and over the years the stock feed side of the business has grown immensely and currently the company delivers over 600 tonnes of feed each day.
These days it also offers fertile egg cartage and a range of quarry product deliveries.
The newest addition to Multiquip’s 25 strong fleet is a 19 m B-Double Asterion built by Muscat Trailers. “We have had a long relationship with Muscat over the years and we probably have at least 15 of their units in our fleet. And in the last year alone we have bought three B-Doubles off them and one truck and dog,” explains Jason Mikosic from Multiquip.
“Muscat is great to deal with and while the quality of their product has always been high, in recent times it has been improving even more. I think this is because of the engineering that they do now and the staff they employ.”
The Asterion is a 19m B-Double that runs on mass management. “We can get up to a 57 tonnes on mass management routes and 50 tonnes everywhere else,” says Jason.
It features Power Tarp electric tarps, Airtec weigh gauges, Wabco EBS braking and Razor landing legs. “The landing legs are great, a lot of the concrete plants we go to require the rear trailer to be disconnected, so the electric winding of the legs makes the job a lot easier on our driver.”
Multiquip hopes that this trailer will be the first of many for the fleet with plans in place for a sand and rock quarry to be built down at Goulburn. “Once the quarry is approved this is the combination that we will go with and so we are in the process of testing the trailer out,” explains Jason.
“We have another three B-Doubles trailers ordered from Muscat to be delivered this year and we are always more than happy to continue our relationship with them. This is due to them constantly improving their product and they are only too happy to help us achieve what we want to achieve with our equipment.”
